I would butt mount a 76 turbo and let her rip. And how does adding to the car make it worse off? If the car is nice to start with and you add new parts that would make it even better. A nice painted car can wreck into the wall at the track just like a POS. Rear mounts have been coming down in price and they don't clutter the engine compartment either.

Vtec my car had 89k on it when I bought it and has original paint and interior that is show room. It has also been built 2 times before and I never looked back. I figure of I love cars as much as I do then they if I were to ever sell it someone else who loves cars will be buying it vs someone who only drives cars and tinkers with them. I don't think I can say I have ever de modded a car for drivability because I am a little more hardcore then some and my idea of street friendly might be different then most. An sts wont be cutting anything up anyway as it all bolts on for the most part and if you cam and run spray will set the car apart from most when selling.

This build is merely for MY enjoyment,I have owned it for almost 8 years almost sold it twice. Just cannot part with her! I am not worried about the resale value of my car I just want to enjoy it.......
From all I have gathered from our hobby is the fun factor and the cost. I can do cam heads easily but that would not make the constant power I am looking for, I have a designated race ride and I have a daily driver so my camaro is purely for fun and enjoyment.
Rear-mount Turbo makes more sense to me at this time..... build it, install it,tune it..... make 400to the tire easily at 6psi, finish a forged shortblock built with boost in mind, have LE do a nice set of heads and Turbo grind cam. retune and turn the boost up 12-15psi and put 600+ down....... see where I am headed.....

Build an all forged low compression 383 and put a turbo on it.
