Default What to do next?

i have a 93 ta that i bought last year the car has heads, cam, 12 bolt ,and a bunch of suspension work done to it abt a month after purchasing it the tranny (which was a brand new jegs tranny) took a crap so i took it to a local tranny shop wher they rebuilt it to handle 650 rwhp so a mth ago i bought a scat forged stroked 383 that the owner nvr ran it has a very sml "hot cam" in it and ported stock heads my question is i wld like to be at 500+ to the rear wheels thinking i shld go 2 some afr 210 heads and matching cam also what other suggestions do u have as necessities to a project like this i was gonna replace my opti w a pro billet one and do the ewp at this x wondering abt fuel system car has 36 lbs now also do i need a new intake will a ported stock handle or am i looking at single plane, thank u in advance for ur time and knowledge. ps i tried 2 change my registered name dnt know how.

For 500 whel i would think ur gona need solid roller cam, single plan intake, and a good ported head. Mayb like ai or le ported trickflows. I dont see the 210s doin it out the box. Also if u stay with the opti setup. Id switch to a vented opti. So that u can run a double roller tiking chain.

Over 500 RWHP N/A is going to be a VERY hard number to hit even with the AFR's that's 575-600 HP. I assume you're building a race car with a big solid roller cam? For the money, and if you plan to drive it on the street ever, you should go power adder; either nitrous or blower/turbo and just but put in some dished blower pistons in the stroker motor and re-use the stock ported heads. Even on low boost (7-8lbs) would easily make over 550 RWHP on a built 383....or sell the LT1 and go LS

If it's a DD then set your HP goals a little more reasonable (450 RWHP) and get a hydraulic roller cam....stock heads properly ported can support that (so will a stock ported intake) I wouldn't bother with the AFR heads unless you plan on getting them ported too..otherwise the gains are minimal over nicely ported stockers. Then start planning the nitrous.

Yea, you need trap speed to try to estimate HP; far too many variables involved....even a bolt on stock LT1 can run 11's with the right suspension/tires/stall/ect. Just giving a HP number goal is kinda useless unless you know what you plan to DO with that HP number...as in how fast do you want to go?

Yes, it's definitely possible to hit 500rwhp..but it won't be very streetable for a DD like you say you are using it for. 99.9% of 500+ RWHP N/A LT1 cars are track only toys....if you want crazy power for the street, then get a blower/turbo or do a 450rwhp build like Joe's above and then spray it.

Im no expert but i would do comp pro rockers with 7/16 studs, ls7 lifters, coyles 3145 double roller timing chain. Then swap to a vented ac delco opti. The stock intake should b good up to 450whel. Run a 58mm tb or mono blade
