1996 camaro z28
This is my first camaro and I really love it. I bought this car last week for 1800 dollars with 147k miles and a 6 speed. I'm having a couple issues with her the guy before me installed a push start but you still had to put the key in the ignition and turn it on and then press the push to start. Well 2 days ago after work I went to start the car and put the key in the ignition and press the push to start, it cranked twice and then just stop. It will not turn or even crank anymore. It makes a click sound and that's all. I would appreciate any help this is my dd. thank you. Before anything happen the car ran fine.

Yeah the battery charged up and still was just one click from the push to start. I'm guessing it has to be the starter then. Is there anyone I could have broke it with the push to start?

if it clicks it is getting power, I would double check the wiring, starting from the switch and tracing it all the way to the starter.
either that or you only got a surface charge.
though, once I had checked everything, but for some reason the crazy amount of oil from a leak I had was ruining the grounds the starter needed once cleaned up it worked fine.

I tried jump starting it and still no work. It just makes one click from the push to start and it sounds like it's coming from below the tranny. It's weird. The way they did this car it's all rigged up and I'm trying to figure out what goes to where.

Well you know for sure its not the battery.
You can start by checking the ginition coil wire. Its the top one and shortest wire coming from the opti somewhere around the drivers side water pump gasket. If it gets loose, itll keep the car from starting.
Do you have long tubes? Your o2 sensors might be getting burnt and causing a short, causing the eng sensor fuse to blow. Or maybe a bad ground.

well, before you go chasing spark problems that might not exist... Try to get the starter going... check the wiring to it as stated before, make sure all mating surfaces are clean and it's bolted up nice and snug.
sounds like the bendix is actually engaging but doesnt have enough ***** to turn over... have you tried to see if the motor will turn over by hand? will it catch and fire from a nice little push start?(we've all done it at one point or time in our lives)

Im thinking your going to run into a VATS problem because of this. Get your wires figured out a make sure everything is connected to the right places. If VATS is fubar, car wont do crapola.
