Default please help! 2 questions heater and tps

Hello all I'm new here to ls1tech I figured thiswould be the best place to start. I have 2 questions...

1. I have a 94 z28 LT1. all the exterior is converted to a 2000 ss tho..but my question is my heater isn't working idk why it hasn't since I got the car...it blows air but not hot...well when I switch the selector for face floor ect it makes a psssssss would like its depressurising..is that normal? would that be the rradon my heater doesn't work?

2. the car has been acting up lately while shifting...it erraticly shifts and sometimes doesn't shift to 4th..I have an automatic...now I have been looking around the forum and it seems to be the tps...does anyone know the location?

thanks in advance

1. you might need to flush your heater core. do a search on this.

2. tps is on the passanger side of your throttle body. connected with 2 screws. looks like a roundish shaped disc.

Sounds like you have a cracked line or something. your probably going to have to dig into it and find out where its coming from.

so is the air coming out normal other than not warm?

do a coolant presure check to make sure it would be the easiest way to find if anything is leaking. like heater hoses and heater core.

does the heater hoses get warm under the hood? there is two hoses that go into the firewall for the heater core

does any coolant leak out onto the ground from the firewall inside the engine bay? ( you have a drain on the heater box incase the heater core leaks that sticks out of the firewall and drains)

and there is a trap door for the ac core and heater core. in the heater box can you hear that move under the dash? if that dont move you wont get heat eather. ( switch it from hot to cold and you should hear it)

and a good way to check for the heater core to be cloged is to take both heater hoses off from under the hood and blow air threw one and go through the heater core then it should come out of the other hose.

yes it comes out normal just not hot...yes they feel warm but that might be the air thats blowing back on them making them feel warm?....no coolant leaks, not in the carpet either...and i do hear the trap door opening and closing as i switch from hot to cold...
like i said i feel the heat thats supposto be inside blowing back out of the firewall where the hoses are...and when i turn the heat off nothing is blowing back (obviously)

Does the pssss sound stop after a couple of seconds? The doors in the hvac system are controlled by vacuum. If you constantly hear hissing inside there is a vacuum leak in the system.

its the stupid little things that burn you up the most. clogged heater core was the sole reason i didnt drive my car for an entire 4 month period. it was cold outside and i didnt want to get wet, yet i also didnt want to drive in a car without heat. catch 22 until spring
