Information on LT1 to LS1 swap
Information on LT1 to LS1 swap My buddy lost a dear friend a couple weeks ago, his 99 Z28. He has a radical cam and was a lot faster than mine. Well if he decides to buy it back from insurance I was gonna take his motor off his hands. He has an auto which I don't want (I have a T56) but I would love to swap his motor for mine. I know I need his computer and all that, but my biggest concern is will his LS1 bolt to my tranny or will I have to do mods or even replace transmission... If so I'm not gonna go through the trouble just find me a LT1 to fix up. I appreciate any feedback, thanks!
You need to install a LS1 style input shaft and face plate on your T56 for it to bolt up to the LS1. This can be done without having to gut the entire tranny assuming the mainshaft bearing clearance is maintained.
