Default Few Qs on headers

Sorry if these have been asked thounsands of times. But I finally am starting to make my Z mine. Not going to elinimate the EGR or AIR thou. Not making it a drag car or a daily driver. Just wanting to make it stronger, faster and still reliable....ish. I got my bike to cover most my gun-it and run-it days.
soo on with the Qs
1. Is there a good header that will just fit in where stock were. As in the room I'll have without removing everything I'm putting in new Y-pipe so something that I don't have to get a BFH for is a plus. Most installs I read up not sounding promising.
2. If not What headaches am I looking at if I go with Long Tubes. Am I go to need to have a Oil filter relocation put on?
3. Is there really any diff between CAI brands?

You don't say what year your car is, do you get emissions tested? People seem to like Pacesetters or Hooker/Jet hot long tubes. Headers can be a bit of work to install but after you're done there will be better access to the plugs and wires.
I looked at all the CAI systems and I went with the Lingenfelter SuperTube. The engineering and materials are OEM quality, it also picks up the factory push pin mount on the core support and the filter element is 6"dia x9" long. Very nice.

Check in with the people who just ordered the OBX ebay headers, not sure if anyone got to install yet but they looked very similar to the Kooks long tubes which fit with no modification. Also prepare for more than just slipping out the manifolds and slipping in the headers, its alot of work. . .

OK sorry I left those out. No I do have to have emission test. Its a 1996 Z28 auto.
I've been following the OBX forum for a bit on here but as you said haven't seen any install pics.
I understand that it is a pain, but I'm having a guy custom bend me a new exhaust and he'll be doing the install of the headers, dumps, exhaust.

New Qs/idea I had the idea today to find an old clutch pedal and make it be the switch to open/close the dumps. That way no switch in dash and can open/close them and not move hands. Just to mess with people. Anyone else had this idea?

Id look for a 93-95 Mac system. I just installed one last weekend and actually gained about 3" of ground clearance over the stock manifolds and y-pipe. With plugs and wires, the entire install took around 4hrs

^^ These may be a good header choice for you since you want something that replaces the stock setup..These allow you to keep your EGR and A.I.R.

I'd say pacesetters are the best bang for your buck out there. As far as any diff. between CAI brands, not really..Though the SLP one looks cool with it's dual piping lol. They all see about the same gains.

Thanks for the input guys. Pacesetters and Hookers both good but, I finding more and more people saying that ceramic coating go to hell anfter few years. Now I know that changes by brand/coating quality.
So any one have these problems with pacesetters or hookers?
Or is my best bet holding off for a set of Stainless?

96RAMAIR thanks for the offer if I dont have a set picked out by then thated be good

^ Well I'd say stainless is prob. the best choice, but its all what you want to buy. I kinda wish I would've held off and bought some stainless LT's but I got too anxious and bought the pacesetters. The coated pacesetters also have a 3yr warranty btw.

Just installed Pacesetter headers today. Pretty good fit but there was a small bit of the trans that needed trimmed due to one of the runners being against it (Passenger Side Header). Only like 1/4" needed trimmed. Nothing serious.
