Default Single plane question.

Who actually uses the center bolt holes??? If you did how did you get the bolts in? Seems the runners are to close to the bolt holes to get any bolt in there.

How close are yours? Think you could take a dremel to the flare on the bolt head to get them to fit?

They aren't completely neccesary as long as you're using good intake gaskets and the heads havent been flat milled too much, but if you could get them to fit I would use them.

I want to use them and only use Felpro 1284 gaskets. I tried cutting down the bolt some and they still wont fit theres no way to get full length bolts in. Ill try grinding down the collar next on a bolt and see how that goes.

i use only the 4 corners, no sealing issues for me. i do go 45 ft lbs on the bolts in several passes, another pass after the first few heat cycles. Not sure if you had the bolt head surface machined down... probably wouldnt be a good idea to use my method unless you like welding aluminum.

I did not have the holes machined down so That may be risky. I could have spacers machined at the proper angle for the outer 8 bolts. Not a chance they would fit in the inner bolts though.

Nevermind I figured it out. Needed shorter bolts and slotted the holes a bit.

Cant afford them, I used stuff I had laying around, everything is on now though!
The org owner did not do a good job with this intake if they were on stock LT1 heads. I had to do a lot of mods to get it to fit and the center bolts were never drilled so that sucked.

Bringing this back, buiding a base manifold for my new whipple system and the design has me not using the 4 inner bolt holes (just outer 8)
Anyone boost a intake with only the outer 8? Plan to push around 700rwhp
