i just changed my ignition lock cylinder out, and now that its all back together and running, whenever i take the key out, the car beeps and prevents me from locking the doors, as if the key were still in the ignition..
any thoughts or suggestions?

Obviously, not a common problem. I'd say your new key cylinder is bad or not compatible or you caused some sort of damage during your work.
