Default Hmm it sounds healthy

Hmm....
But the damn thing is still not hooking up.

I'm on a brand new pair of 555Rs. 275/60/15
Best run was 12.752@111.47 2.078 60'
Best trap of the night was 112.34

Which to me is a problem. I went to the track around six months ago I think it was, not dragging my time book out though, at which point on Yokohamas I ran a 12.8@113.5mph.

So I lost trap speed for some reason? I've been on the dyno in between these two track days and I picked up 15rwhp, so really confused on why my trap speed is lower.

Another change since last track day was changing my clutch setup from a six puck disc and slp billet steel flywheel to the Mcleod twin disc with steel flywheel.

So I realize two issues I have, I have the feeling tire pressure was too high at 20 psi, and the car has a rake to it with the draglites on, would this have changed my pinion angle, and in a negative to traction manner?

So give me thoughts on the trap and I definitely need launching advice! Discuss, thanks in advance for anything I can take from this thread.

Man your 60' is tired. I think you could drop the pressure down to about 15 psi and might help.

your 2.078 60' speaks worlds to me. One your tires have way to much air in them. Typical air pressure that I've had in Nitto's was 8-12 psi (but that's us up in Northern IL). From there a video from behind would be wonderful in seeing what the suspension is doing. Also knowing what's on the car. Getting the best out of the car relies solely on the setup. I took one kid from running 12.50's in a cam only LS1 car to running 11.50's just in setup and getting him to launch the car right (it too was an M6). I would definitely loose the front sway bar (just disconnect if you'd like...it doesn't weigh much). If you have adj shocks loosen the fronts all the way up, and put the rears in the middle and see where it goes from there. If you're leaving soft then you can stiffen the rears up and put some more power straight to the ground. The rake won't cause the pinion angle to change in the car, only in relation to the pavement....not a big deal. Then if the trans and rearend are up to the shock 4-4500 for a launch rpm is a good starting point, as long as you remember to tighten the chin strap on your helmet.

After watching the video, the car leaves straight, it looks like the power isn't going to the ground. And leaving at such a low rpm is going to make the car leave soft.

Just remember to change one thing at a time and keep notes. It'll help you in the long run.

What was ur 60' on the 12.8 on yokohomas pass? If it spun more that could be the reason for the higher trap speed. The more you hook up, the less you trap speed can get. Also the weather plays a big factor. I picked up 4mph from 3000da to -400 da...

I'll have to dig out my time book where I keep track of this sometime this weekend.
Mods:
Spohn chromoly LCAs, PHB, torque arm (long style, UMI relocation trans mount)
lca relocation brackets
Moser 12 bolt, 4.11 gears, eaton posi
Denny's nitrous ready driveshaft. not sure on its specifics. came with the 12 bolt
Supposedly built t56. Used trans so not much to go on
mcleod twin disc, steel flywheel
Currently Bilstein HD shocks with stock springs (Koni's are on the list for next month)

Motor is stock displacement, ported heads(not sure by who) CC503. Headers, 1.6 rockers, 24x.

Here is my time slip from the last time I was out:

I'll try to scan in the slip from Friday soon.

Thanks guys, yeah I need a new tire pressure gauge. The one I have now doesn't go below 20 which sucks.

What was a big bummer to me was only getting in 3 passes last Friday. Normally I can get in 5-7 out at OSW, but so many people had parts flying off their trucks, cars, and motorcycles. One guy wiped out on his bike during his burnout.

I would look in to a good set of drag shocks if you care a lot about drag.

Well here is the thing, I like to corner carve more than drag racing. I know that the car should do better than 2.0-2.3 for 60' though, it was pretty embarrassing.

Is it spinning or bogging to that awful 60' time?

Start bogging it out of the hole from about 2000 rpm, and add rpm from there until you spin. I've done 1.8s on sumitomos

Why are you running a heavy twin disk clutch when you are making cam only power?

In my car i've learned to sort of "feather" the clutch out the hole rather than dump it and have had some "okay" 60ft times for bolt on car. I put down a 1.94 60ft on bald MT's, stock suspension, front sway bar removed and a slipping stock clutch. It's all about practice, it took me awhile to get that down.

Got if I had a 12 bolt and was cutting those 60' times I would shoot myself. Get some good bias-ply qtps and let it rip

Leave your set up alone... run the car until you get consistant numbers and technique on your launch.
Then start tweaking with tire pressure to get more out of the car...

Fix launch and bog issues first.

Yes, I won all three passes.

In regards to the clutch question, I had a problem and had to take the transmission out (turned out it was the flywheel bolts backing out!) . At the time I could swing the asking price ACHotrod had up for his twin disk setup. I didn't know what I was going to find, but I figured while I'm in there.....

So yes, I could have reused my old clutch setup that was fine, but future plans include the Nitrous Outlet plate kit I've had sitting here for a few years with NANO, looking at a 200 shot. Rings were gapped for this when I had the motor rebuilt last year. So while the clutch might be overkill now, I don't feel like it is so for down the road.
