So my car/engine is a 94. I'm putting a cc503 in it but now the timing cover its it. Being a 94 it has the smaller opti hole. Has anyone else encountered this or know how to fix it? Can you cut it down to fit?

Measure the pin on your old cam and grind the new pin to the same length. These instructions for the GM hotcam specify the cam dowel pin length of .310 for spline drive opti applications.

ok thanks thats what i was wondering. I just found another thread people were saying grind it down or hit it with a hammer in some. hitting it seems dumb in the motor though so I'll probably measure the stock one or use the dimensions in the link there and get it to the correct size.

Don't tap it if its in the motor, I think there is a freeze plug at the back and you don't want to dislodge it. The GM instructions for the hotcam say to tap the dowel to the correct length, I tried that and the pin didn't budge and I started to peen over the edge of it. Grinding the dowel to the correct length works much better.
