Default 383 LT1 SS should be back on the road...for a while

This car has put up a fight; we just got done changing out the LS7 lifters for Comp 850-16's.....for no reason. Started off the rockers were not straight over the valves because of SBC guide plates. We changed those out for the GMPP guide plates which straightened the rockers up. Well our lifter noise got worse! So after reading all the LS7 lifter noise threads we changed them out for the COMP 850-16's. Well we still had the same loud noise! Turns out by straightening the rockers up, they started hitting the valve covers. The noise was horrible. So for future references do not use Summit aluminum 1.6 RR's with Proform tall valve covers. The bodies of the rockers are so wide that they hit the valve covers in each corner of the cover. We changed the rockers out for some Comp Ultra Pro Mags...problem fixed, no more valve train noise

Here is the build thread for the car
Basically car has Comp XFI 280, 190 AI Heads, Intake ported by me, 3.89 Motive Gears,...etc al the other goodies

Car runs pretty good with the Scatt cast 9000 crank, for all you cast crank haters out there.

We will post next video of it on the dyno

Why didn't you just clear the valve covers?

We would have had to grind through the valve cover as bad as they were hitting. Plus a good reason to buy better rockers.
