A little advice on a Vortech SC
I have a 97z28 that I have been wanting to do a LS swap in but I have recently come across a deal for a 383 LT1 with Vortech Supercharger S-Trim. It has very low miles on it and all documentation from the build....forged crank, pistons, cam, head work...blah blah blah ect. Comes with a bulletproof tranny and computer....basically everything for an easy swap. The guy says it is making 17psi from this s-trim vortech. Is that possible and how would he do it? What are some things I need to look for when I go take a look at it? I am going to bring my compression gage and basic hand tools so I can check out the rotating assemply/ valve train other than that I dont know what I sould check out. I wish I could hear it run but unfortunately it is out of the vehicle. I have always wanted forced induction and this would be a easy way for me to get into it. Thanks in advance.

I have a s-trim and I am having a very hard time getting 10lbs consintently out of it because of belt slippage so if he says 17 he has to have a cog pulley system on there but from what I know the s-trim is only good till about 12 lbs of boost and then it looses efficientcy.

Yes, I thought that 17psi was awfully high. He is saying that it should be around 700crank hp? What kinda power are you running? Im still waiting to hear back from him regaurding the cam specs, head flow numbers and all the other info.

Boost is volume with no were to go. Ether he is wrong about the 17psi or it has stock heads and a stock cam.
We were spinning a t-trim at 58k and could not make more than 12.5psi with afr 210 headed 383.

Yep, starting to think its a bogus deal. Wont sell the Vortech by itself either. Well back to trying to figure out what route I am going to take with my build. My tranny crapped out on me and I miss driving my car. I gotta research things a while longer. I want forced induction but I dont think I have the budget for that.....$7k at this time. My goal is a 10.8 Im thinking a nitrous build is the way I am gonna have to go.

Ill bet that twin turbo small block is a documented forged 383, but that supercharged LT1 "looks like" it could go at any second, but then again looks arent everything. I would stick with the ls swap unless you wanna build your own forged LT1 383 either way your gonna want a good $5K-7K budget and thats if you do all the work yourself.
