Default Th400 or 700r4

Hey guys not new but forgot my last username and pass.

Bought my first LT camaro two weeks ago. 4l60e is taking a crap and going fast. Need a good long term solution, motor will eventually turn into a turbo or big nitrous ltx. Stock for now

Any advise is appreciated thanks

If its stock then get a stock replacement trans and upgrade when you're ready.

Does the 4l80e come with mvb? And I'm trying to make this a driving project untill the motor HAS to come out.

Starting this dragster with suspension and driveline first. Don't feel like putting money into stock replacements when I already have a plan you know?

I would talk to a few highend 4L60E shops like ProBuilt, Rossler and FLT and discuss your goals and use.

I think you need to decide between turbo and nitrous though before you choose a tranny.

The 4L60E has been in the 9s in a bunch of cars make sure you use someone who has kept one in the 9s a long time.

In my opinion it depends on the intended purpose of the car. Is it going to see mostly track time or will it be mostly on the street? The OD is nice to have and allows you to run shorter gears without running really high RPM's on the highway. I had CPT build my first "race" 4l60E and it only lasted 6 months or so. It was a 10 bolt failure that led to its destruction BUT, they are VERY expensive to rebuild compared to other transmissions that will hold up better, longer.

I chose TH350 because there are a lot more people local that can build one. The TH350 I have in my car has a 36 element sprag, FMVB, deep ribbed aluminum pan. After buying a B&M pro ratchet shifter, shifter cable, Jegs tunnel mount torque arm and madman dipstick I STILL came out a little cheaper for the TH350. The bigger advantage in my opinion is the fact that when the clutches need to be replaced I can have it done for $300-$400 or cheaper if I decide to do it myself. Think about EVERYTHING you do to your car for more than a day or two and make the right decision the first time. JMHO.

Ive contacted some of the vendors here and will do some local research it is something I want to get done right the first go around which is why the th400 was brought up. I guess I can live without the OD. It would see more track than street.

Might not need it depending on the setup but the 3.06 first gear of the 4L60E helps make a hard launch.

Going th400 nitrous. Thanks guys just need to figure out my gearing. Maybe 4.10, would 4.56 run out of gear for a strictly track run? No dd

For a nitrous car 4.56s will probably be too much. But you'd have to figure that out for yourself with a gearing calculator.
