pcm problem!!!!!!!!!

Default pcm problem!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1996 Z28 and the pcm is broken can i just buy another and change it or do i have to do something else i need help please i want my car to run please help please.

Is your car stock? regardless buy one send it out for a tune and your good.
I have a stock Pcm from a97 if anyone knows if that'll be a direct replacement.

Why do you say the PCM is broken (they rarely fail)?

Security is not an issue. It is handled by the BCM and sends a signal to the PCM. You can swap PCMs all day long and it won't matter.

because when i try to start my car it does not star and when i tried to scan it, it was impossible to scan the guy who came to do it told me that the pcm was broken, but if i want to replace it i will need a new pcm and a key because the security is in the pcm.
if not so can you tell what can i do to fix the problem??

Just because you cannot scan it, does not mean the PCM is a problem. Have you tried another scanner? Anything can happen (scanner/cable) as well as operator error in using a scanner.

As I explained, security is not in the PCM.

I can't tell you what to fix as there is no evidence as to what the problem actually is. If you don't own the correct scanner, find someone else that can give it a try. You can also do the no start basics of checking for the presence of spark and correct fuel pressure.

i tried 3 different scanners by 3 different people and nothing, the sprark is very low.
what is the no start basic, can you tell more about it???

Basics, like pulling a plug wire or the coil wire and looking for spark to jump to ground (or use a spark tester). You says spark is "low", so maybe you already somehow checked it? Fuel pressure check from the schrader valve with a test gauge to see if it is 41-47 psi when the key is turned on.

Every scanner you tried was the proper OBD-II scanner and cable? Have you verified continuity of the wires from the DLC to the computer?

You list no mods, so are you leaving out any information like maybe an OBD-I conversion or anything else pertinent?

Just for grins, does anyone close have a computer you could swap in just to see if it makes it run?

Ok ok i did most of that, yes the scanner was a obd-II, but when it was scanned it throw a ton of codes for randon things as well as memory codes. There is when they told me it was broken, so i tried another computer from another car but when i put the other one i didn,t get any spark and there is when they told me that there is a security in the computer thats why it will nos start with another computer i need the key of that computer and that is my concern.
