Default Plugged cooling passages?

I bought a used block and when i took it apart the cooling passages were pretty clogged up. When I went to the machine one machine shop they said it was probably some type of barr leak or something like that to stop a leak. The other machine shop said it was because of the bad head gasket changed the acidity of the coolant and caused it to do that. it did have a bad gasket i noticed it as soon as i pulled the head.

The first shop said it would be no problem most of it would come out in the hot tank and they would use long special wire brushes to clean it. The second shop said that the block was probably junk because i wouldn't get the majority of it out.

so whats your guys take on it.

Default

Hot tanking and the proper methods will easily remove the build-up.

Sounds like shop B either doesn't want the business or has no clue.
