Default Constant brake sqeal?

So ironically after I made a run to the auto parts store to fix some minor stuff on the T/A I managed to have a stupid moment and break something else.

Left the E-brake on for about a mile or so (Stop and go traffic) and now I have a constant metal on metal sound whenever I go forward (no noise in reverse).
Also the e-brake light does not come on when I pull the lever.

So what do you guys think?

Rear pads are shot... probably the rotors also. Or just glazed the pads over really bad. Remove the wheel and have a look.

there should be a little pin that sticks out on the rear brake caliper when you have the ebrake on. That probably wore down your pad unevenly pretty bad. If you hear metal to metal scratching, your rotor is probably bad too. Stop driving it, and check them out, hopefully the rotor is still salvageable.

Another thing that I have found is the anti rattle plates.

Check the OD of the rotor to see if it is scraping against either the upper or lower pad.
If so, simple bend it a bit.

I've even dremeled casting pieces off of the OD of the rotor before.

Thank you for the responses. The rear brakes havn't been touched since I bought the car a few years back, and it's about time for a rear brake job any way.

So I'm not worried about the rotor I'm just gonna replace the pads and rotors and call it a day.

Unfortunately I won't have time to do the brake job until Sat :/

You think it's safe to drive? I have no problem braking it just sounds terrible...

Can you only see the anti-rattle plates with the wheels off? Cause when I crawled under the car I didn't see any back-plate on the rears.

Also why does it only make sound when going forward and not reverse?

You have to take the wheels off.

It's pretty quick and easy to check.

While you are at it, look at your pads.

I can't see them being ruined in a mile, but I guess they could have been.

jack up the rear and put it in nuetral (chock the front wheels first).

rotate each wheel by hand to see if it is only one side that is affected.
