Since 24X conversion threads are popular this week...I have a question. I've been reading more and more about the 24X conversion, and i'm really considering it once I build a good motor down the road. Not so much for deleting the Opti but since tuning will be so much easier and better with an LS PCM especially when I do my Turbo 355 in a few years.
I have a few concerns though, since I have a 93, are there any special things that need to be done? Since the speedometer is not controlled by the ECM on a 93, can it be done with the LS PCM? Are there any other things that are different compared to 94+ cars while doing this conversion?
Anybody with experience please chime in.

mite have to find a 96' and up 4l60e...the insides are different, that would prob solve your speedo too. I just ordered mine yesturday and Mike said that on one's done what i'm doing yet so I too have some issues I must work out. Not sure this helps you but I'm sure about the trans thou...it's on there website.

My position on the 1994 and 1995 4L60E transmissions is that you replace with a 1996-newer 4L60E and be cautious about geometry when it comes to 4L60E transmissions with detachable bell housings (like truck and van transmissions).
I'm not a transmission guy and there has been far too much debate surrounding the 1994 and 1995 transmissions. I would rather avoid the argument and recommend a 1996-newer transmission.
I tell everyone to work with a local, trusted, transmission builder.
Yesterday I spoke with a gentleman who said his local transmission builder suggested his 1994 transmission would work fine, but set a DTC and illuminate the MIL (service engine soon light). His transmission builder suggested there would be no negative effects. He wanted to proceed and I cautioned him that I think his transmission builder was giving bad advice. It's difficult for me to understand why anyone would settle for "eh, it might work" or "I don't mind an illuminated MIL".
If you are going to put any time and money into your car, do it right.

Other stuff you need to worry about, 93s have a different IAC than later LT1s, 93s have single wire O2s and 93s have the oil pressure sender by the filter not the back of the intake like a 94+ car.
I have a 93, once you pull the old harness off it's just an LT1 with a different intake manifold and fuel rails. The Speed Density stuff won't matter any more. Then the things I mentioned should make sense to whats going to be different on a 93 versus a later car. Since you already did the heated O2, you'll have the right O2s. Since the Oil pressure sender is in a different location you'll need to let Mike know so your harness is in the right length for the sensor or you'll have to extend it your self. The IAC style matters because it's going to dictate what year throttle body you can use. I decided to switch to the later style IAC to make things easier so I told Mike I wanted the pig tail for a later car.
