Default Wiring harness question

I need to replace the engine harness on my 97 ta. I have the lt1 with a t56. I've found a harness from a 96 lt1 with an automatic transmission. Will this harness work on my car?

It not going to work without some modification. The best thing would be a 96 or 97 harness from a T56 car.

I'm glad I asked. Will a 96 T56 harness require any modification?
Thank you for the response. I think I use your website a lot, unless I have you mixed up with someone else.

I am pretty sure 96-97 harnesses are the same. Make sure it is for an f-body.

Modifying the A4 harness for your T56 is easy on 96-97 harnesses. I have details on doing it if you want.

If it would be easy that would be great. I'm having a hard time finding a 96-97 t56 harness.

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with your current harness?

The previous owner somehow got a fire going under the hood. Heat + electrical tape on everything made everything a sticky mess. Some connectors are melted, and there's a lot of exposed spots. Somehow everything still works.

Here's an example for you. Look at the grounds on the right, and the iac connector on the left.

It's really not that bad, all you'd have to do is splice your existing T56 connectors into the A4 harness. All the PCM wiring is already in the A4 harness, it's just a matter of hooking up to the right wires. The only issue would be reverse lights, I'd have to look through the schematics to figure that out.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know if a 95 lt1 t56 harness will work for a 97? I can't seem to find the changes.

A 95 harness will not have wiring for several things your 97 has:
-rear O2s
-crank position sensor
-EVAP vacuum switch

and it will have a different coil connector.

No it wont. At least not plug and play. You will have to repin it and add some wires.

If you want a brand new harness for your application shoot me a pm.
