LT1 in a 93 Camaro pulling timing under load
-LT1
-Japanese export model so no EGR or EGR components
Replaced my PCM coolant temp sensor on the front of the water pump. Car straightened out a bit, but still is retarding timing all the way to 0.
At idle, timing is 20-22. Under load, it retards all the way to 0. It never shows knock. Could this be a bad knock sensor? O2 sensors are sort of ok. Right is bouncing between under 100 and above 900. Left is staying right around 140-160 at idle, and as soon as I touch the gas it starts bouncing like it's supposed to. Any ideas?
what do your plugs look like?
is it possible your exhaust is hitting the floor, that can cause the knock sensor to freak out?
Replaced:
-PCM water temp sensor on the front of the water pump
-Plugs with good ol' TR whatever
-Wires with Red MSD 10.5mm
Ordered, but not here yet:
-AC Delco ICM
-MSD Coil
I'm betting its not the opti mostly because according to my Japanese records, it was just replaced in November by the Stealership. However, before I wired my fans to a switch, the car would get crazy hot. I wouldn't let it get to the red line. When I went to start it later (about 30 minutes) it refused. So in the parking lot I pulled a plug and plug wire to test for spark....No spark. I kept playing around under there tapping and touching everything in the ignition system while I had my wife continue to try and turn it over. Out of no where, it started. Ran like ****, but started. I think it's the ICM or the Coil because it's clearly a heat related issue.
Defining the No start condition:
Turned over but wouldn't fire. Brand new Red Top optima.
Haven't had a single issue since I wired the fans to keep the car cool. (With the no start issues)
