Car is a bone stock (besides cia, flowmaster muffler) 94 z28 trying to go as fast as possible, what should i look into? was thinking heads and cam, then buy the rockers, and other pieces later on leaving my car in pieces for the rest of the year( dont really want to do that) or just buying some new rims + drag radials and going with a 150 shot after lots of tuning. thoughts?? or other ideas i would love to hear them. i was going to go with the AI200cc heads cam package for 2900$ shipping but i have 900 short lol

I'd say save your money unless you know what you want. I recently had some money and put some torque thrust II and a Harris speed works 150 shot installed by Texas speed and performance and couldn't be happier, got the looks with the power! The stock heads flow really really well if they are PP right, and if you go with boost or n20 I'd keep them save some money and buy some more cool stuff.

I'd do an m6 3.42 rear $200, stall $800, headers $400, lt4 springs and used 1.6 NSA rockers, pushrods and guideplates and arp studs (I have rockers for sale for $150 pm me if interested) $400, and a mail order tune $200. That will wake your car up alot and keep you happy for a little while. Should be worth mid 12s with a 3000-3600 stall.

I agree with Lawhead. Find a good used aftermarket rear and get your tune touched up to match whatever you have done as well as the new gear ratio. It might not make you faster, but you will have one of the biggest things out of your way.

you get a cheap supercharger those are proven to make power and will last but you better get it tuned. I had a little one makin 9 psi that lasted from new 97 till 2003 when I did a stroker. And was more fun than you could shake a stick at. And get 25 mpg down interstate at 85.

$ 2000 will barely cover the supporting mods (bolt-ons) needed for a cam swap. Headers, exhaust, cai, stall, gears, rockers, springs, shift kit, dr's and a tune. I'd start with those.

Driveline driveline driveline! My swap car has a stock internal Ls1 but one beefy driveline from clutch to slick. Ran a best of 12.30 and best mph of 116, and having a durable car to help with the ongoing "driver mod" is a lot of fun. Power to the ground is always better than a stupid dyno sheet.

Now that you've gotten the "parent" perspective on what to do with the money go ahead and start with bolt-on's. You have an auto so the diff. should last awhile. As stated, headers, ORY, CAI, 1.6 rockers, springs, stall, DR's and gears if you have any money left over. You'll be real happy with the results.

The 98+ idea is not a bad one! Is your car a daily driver or weekend warrior? Are you mechanically inclined. Are you wanting show or go? 2 grand can do a lot if you do most of the work yourself. If you're not mechanically inclined, $2000 isn't much to work with, you may get the parts but you still have labor. Try to find parts cheap headers, cam, springs, 3.42 factory gm gears like someone else said, converter, transmission etc. If I was looking for et's I know what I would do but opinions are like a-holes. Btw I'm not bashing lt1's, I'm actually building a 94z right now to toy with.
