Default Drive shaft question

So I'm in the middle of my 95 3.4 a4 to 93 z28 m6 swap and I was thinking. I'm rebuilding and camming the motor. So I'll have a little power. I'm getting 4.10's, would it be worth it to upgrade the drive shaft? I remember seeing people talk about upgrading them to the ones out of ls1 fbodys? I just can't remember so any input is appreciated. Advantages/ disadvantages to this?

Its always a good thing to upgrade to a better driveshaft IF its out of a 5spd 3rd gen you better triple measure your shaft & the upgraded one!!!! Depending on aftermarket exhaust you might have some clearance issues But should be Fine JUST make sure its not a cut down truck shaft like I got with my 4L80E It might lead to more headaches if thats the case Only reason I got the huge shaft from the suburban doner was I didnt have the proper tools to remove the yoke that needed to stay with my 4L80E I will get a custom one made for my combo of 4L80E & S60 when the time comes!!

It's a good shaft, that's for sure. However, they weren't $500 new. IIRC, I paid $300 for mine.

Where are you locted? I'm kind of "stripping" my Z-28 for sale, and I took the Lingenfelter shaft out of it,and I'm looking to sell it. I ask where you're located, in terms of shipping costs...

Thanks warriorcustoms and that sounds like a pain. But a custom one is a cool thing to look forward to.

And yea lead foot I'm interested. I'm actually an hour south of Seattle but that doesn't really matter cause I assume you're not in Washington.

I run a ls alum shaft in mine with cam etc. no problems , alum from steel seems to smooth out vibration above 70 mph .

Yea I was planning to offer him 150, i didnt know about the vibration issue cauae i havent driven or even had the lt1 yet, glad its fixed before i even dealt with it! If I can't get this one ill probably just purchase an Ls driveshaft. Thanks for all the input guys! Count on hearing from me much more. Taking my cars to my shop tomorrow to put on the lifts and swap subframes. Wish me luck! Then to re pin the v6 to get it running and sell! Thanks again guys. Always very helpful.

Keep in mind that the aluminum LS1 shaft has been known to be WEAKER than the stock steel one. Lots of "beer can" threads about the LS1 shaft.

Consider the option of having yours balanced.

I didn't know it was weaker. Is the other one for sale on Craig's weaker? Or just The Ls model?
And I'm actually in the Lacey/Olympia area so were not to far! Are you involved in any of the meets that go on around the northwest? Once my cars done I'd really like to go drive with you guys.

No, I'm actually across the country in western NY. UPS is certainly an option, however I'm not quite sure how to get just an estimate of shipping costs. I'd let the shaft go for $175...the u-joints were replaced a couple of years ago, by a professional d'shaft shop, and the balance was checked at the same time.
