Default Quick optispark question.. Installing right now, help

I'm just wondering if when you spin the optispark shaft by hand, should it be 100% completely noise and resistance free? The one I'm about to put in has a very slight spot of resistance where it slows or stops and makes a little noise. It doesn't do it all the time though, when I hold it straight up and down it rarely does it. I'm thinking it needs the pressure of being pressed into place in the position it's supposed to be in and it should be fine, but I don't want to put this thing in if the bearing is shot.

Any advice?

sounds fine to me, you can take the cap off to locktite the rotor and while your at it just make sure everything looks good on the inside, the reader ring and such aren't bent, just for that extra safe assurance.

IDK, if it were me, I'd be curious of the noise and investigate.

If you grab the shaft does it wobble at all? The bearing on my old one was shot and it would flop around and had a lot of play. When I took it apart I could see where the disc was scraping against the optical eye. The new one spun freely and made no noise.

I totally agree with this. The opti is in the worst location possible on these engines and it is a big PITA if it goes bad.

Is it new or used? What's the make?

It's a oem unit, super low mileage out of my buddies ss. He let me have it since I'm about to put my long tubes in, and his car ran perfectly.

I tested it out (even though I know it's good) by plugging in the harness and coil wire and spinning it, coil fired like a ****. Just concerned about the bearing. A little tiny noise could be a whole different story at 6,000 rpm lol.

The shaft does not wobble And is not loose, it does move the SLIGHTEST amount left and right but I don't think it's a problem.
