Default Problems With 00 Impala/93 Z

my sisters car wouldnt accelereate right...bogged..and rpms would go crazy when stoped....codes said it had a bad mass sensor...changed it and now its a whole lot better...but there is still a slight hesitation...if i punched it feels like it holds back...if i let go a push it again then it picks up right...now my car...im hearing a clicking sound coming from the valves...one side louder then the other...i think its a rocker arm...then at the bottom where the headers connect to the exhaust a hear a clicking sound like if i had a big cam...which i dont...my friend (mechanic) said since i use castrol 10/30 it was to thin and was causing the prob...if i changed it to his choice havolin(cant spell) 40 it would solve the prob...my car has 135,000 miles...ok guys whats going on with these cars.

is it that hard to adjust a rocker arm...i have never done it ...but the mechanic tells me i should do it because its not that difficult...he said adjust and hear if the noise goes down...if it does do it intill it goes away making sure its not to tight....what is to tight
