Default Tuning

Okay since 94 z28s dont have the obd2 tuning stuff, do you have to get the chip programmed and sent to you or do you have to just bring it to a tuning place locally to get it tuned?

OBDI PCMs (94-95) are actually easier to tune (subjectively speaking). Mail-order/e-mail tunes are commonplace where you work with a tuner on a PCM exchange basis. They tune a PCM for you and ship it to you, then you mail your PCM to him. Email tunes are even easier - you load the program yourself.

Lots of options for us OBDI guys.

I don't recommend tuning it yourself I looked into it and unless you know what your messing with you can really screw your car up. I do have the cable and I bought mine on ebay. I had my car tuned and I can read and make changes but I haven't messed with anything. I do plan on retuning and having a real aggressive tune and a mild tune so that when I take it to the track I can change it and on the street run the mild tune!

OH come on! ANYONE can do it! You just need to read this site and that site and ignore the advise people give them.

Sorry I get phone calls like that all the time....Then they explain they just do not have the time to do it but do not want to pay for my time to do it

Sorry I had one today

AND on that note there is alot of good info here if you dig in and search. Try Google to search this site also it works better some times

i tuned my 95' z28 myself using datamaster and tuner CATS. It was easy.
94-95' PCM's have reflashable chips but the rest of the PCM is OBDI. 95' models however have the 16pin OBDII ALDL plug connection.

LOL, reminds me of my old TV business. I'm torturing myself right now with TunerPro RT. So far it's beating me to death

Would be nice if you could just do a tune like on my Alcohol injected race car. Timing always at 38 degrees. Just adjust the AF ratio and go. It has a one bit digital throttle, idle and wide open.
