Far as multiple tunes the only reason I can see for that in an NA car would be changing fuel. Otherwise the pcm has a LOT of tables to scale everything off of and you can make it do pretty much whatever it needs to based on changing conditions..
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I figured with a drastic cam set up that it would of course make a difference regardless of tune, but the tune is a huge factor..

Like these guys are saying, don't spend money on stuff that isn't necessary based on your goals and have it affect the parts that really matter.

Perhaps there are shops who are bad and don't want to touch a block without the caps, but in talking to two very credible shops in this area about this when I had a LT4 block without the caps neither of them wanted to mess with it because of the liability of having to tell the customer their block was not square. Far easier and more practical to use a block with original caps.

I would say on the caps most shops are going to go with the old "it is cheaper and easier to just get another block for $150" shops often don't want any extra challenge even if they can do it.

Time is money, and shops that are busy with more expensive builds do not want to have to dick with a lower budget block project that has a risk of not turning out correctly the first time and then having to do the job all over again. It has nothing to do with the ability of a shop.

I'd say it depends on the condition (mileage) of your current engine, it doesn't make sense to do heads/cam/intake on a 150K or more mile used up engine. As soon as you're done and get on it you'll spin the bearings and now your car is sitting until you can afford to do the bottomend. So for me I would build the stroker if that's what you want and add the cam you want because heads and intake can be done with the engine in the car.
