I was wondering if this could be done on a 1993 z28 since it does not have a MAF? Also will it work with the stock hood?

That's a TPI motor - not an LT1.

If by "this", you mean the TPI induction setup, the short answer is no.
Of course you could prove otherwise if you have the fab skills/resources/money to convert your reverse flow LT1 heads and that manifold to work together.

Tpi is only good for mud trucks. I had one on my turdgen and they fall off at very low rpms. Tpi guys mod the lt1 intake to work on their cars.

He's asking about the filter directly on the tb

Yes, it will work but you'll need a place to put the IAT sensor. I believe its K&N RC-5050 that has a larger flange on the base to drill a small hole for the sensor but Im not 100% certain.

Order one from the part store, slip in on in the parking lot - if the hood wont close or if there isnt enough room for a hole for the IAT, return it...

sucking in hot air that just came through the radiator is a poor idea.

I read it as the filter as well... and of course it CAN be done, but as stated above... ur pulling HOT air...... Route it low and to fresh air, then put your filter on.....

I wouldn't do it. That looks like the opposite of cold air induction.

Yes I am talking about the filter!! Why would I even wanna go though the trouble switching to a tpi?? Anyways.. Thanks for the opinions guys.. I have the Moroso cai and I love it.. I was just wondering about this idea though and if it would be beneficial or not.. I do see where it wouldn't be good cause of the hot air y'all were saying... It does have a clean look to it though.. I'll just keep my Moroso

Not to hijack but this looks resolved but I always wondered if the guys that put the ls1 lids on the lt1's ever added a SLP style cold air intake to it as well. Never saw mention of it other than adding the lid, maybe they do and it's not even worth noting? The slp (ls1) cold air intake basically made the ls1 a bottom air sucker too. I doubt the cost of doing it is worth the 1-2 hp but always wanted to try it if i had a stock lt1 and the parts for it cheap.

The kit if you guys can't picture it... http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...%20package.jpg

You can add a lid if you have a WS6 car or get one of those Ultra Z hoods with the front scoop.

Yeah I though about the lid... I just didn't think it would work with a stock lt1 hood and I didn't wanna hack everything up to make it work with a stock hood... And I don't really like the untra z hood.

A couple years ago i did a ls lid on my lt1 (pic) i have since changed the ribbed plastic out but this was right after i did it . I noticed a crisper throttle responce and i did not hacking on any of the radiator braces or anything just some on the lower support peice not hard to do at all, it fit perfect under my ram air hood , not sure about a stock z hood

Ram air box won't fit under a stock Z28 or SS hood.

If you're hoping to see a performance increase, you won't get it. I recently made back to back passes at the track: one with my CAI and one with an open throttle body (no elbow or any intake plumbing attached). I tied the intake air temp sensor right in front of the throttle body. The car slowed down 2 tenths and lost over 1 mph.
