With a HV pimp I was sucking pan dry at 7500. I will never use a HV in a small block again its completely not neeeded ever. SBC has one of the best oiling systems stock.
To the OP I would use a mechanical test gauge and verify what you have first, if its not within spec cut the filter open and see whats in the media
