With a HV pimp I was sucking pan dry at 7500. I will never use a HV in a small block again its completely not neeeded ever. SBC has one of the best oiling systems stock.

To the OP I would use a mechanical test gauge and verify what you have first, if its not within spec cut the filter open and see whats in the media

drainback issues........i had the same issue i had to overfill 1qt to avoid the issue when backing off the throttle on the top end.........i fixed the oil passge issue on the back hole of the head and did some other drain back issues and now its perfectly fine.......i run a HV pump and have no issues with the pump sucking the pan dry
