You can get some profilers assembled ready to go for about a grand and they can most likely handle the reverse coolant conversion too, so I'd say around 1500 you'd have a killer head.

The terms used in our shop were "velocity maps/air speed, choke points, CFM" as you stated. A lot of work was put into straightening the airflow.
I worked at NRP with Gil Nevarez. I used to do all the electrical work and Computer tuning on the cars. He now works at Shelby here in Las Vegas.

I also worked at Combination Motorsports. I did the same there. Bryan Herter was the one that showed me and instructed me on LT1/LS1 tuning back in late 2004. I learned a lot from him and did very well from it.
I have since moved on and now work for a contractor at Nellis AFB. Racing takes way too much time for the money made.
There are a lot of great SBC heads available that are just a conversion away from LT1 use, but most cars are still street cars that want a simple, proven, bolt-on solution like ported stockers or out of the box aftermarket heads.

My setup will be here monday. I'm really excited to finally see what it will do. Forged 396 with 11.5-12:1 "have to do the final calculations with my head gasket" TFS 21 degrees with Lloyd doing his magic. 237/245 603.619 on a 110 and then a 200 hit to top it all off
