Exclamation Headers vs Spark plug wires

I am currently running BBK headers on my 94 Pontiac Firebird LT1...the headers keep burning through the plug wires. Ive wrapped the wires in heat wrap, even tried the OTVC kit..nothing has worked. The only solution ive found is to buy stock manifolds and put them back on...just wondering if there is a different brand of headers that leave more space for wires or if anybody has any input.

Thanks!

Have you tried header wrap?

Wrapping them is not the solution. Header wrap is gawdy, attracts filth, and can be a fire hazard.

Truthfully I would question your routing methods. If you're good enough using looms and zip-ties you can keep the wires away just fine.

However if you want plug access then go with a long-tube header. Those BBKs suck *** (as are shorties in general).

I agree that they suck *** lol. I broke 6 spark plugs trying to move my BBK Shorties around just enough to torque the lower head bolts on my LT1. I'm about to throw them in the trash and order some pacesetter long tubes

You may want to see if you can find some of the cheap Kooks knock offs. They're probably about the same price as Pacesetters, and they're stainless steel. I think one of the brands might be OBX. There are some threads on this site.

hey man, i have heard OBX headers are hard to come by, if you want pacesetters and want to go on the cheaper side go with these and save your self about 40 bucks

Like i told another guy, i bought these for my trans am, and they were in fact pacesetters, came in a pacesetter box and everything. If you dont mind the black finish...i dont, and just want some cheap new header's go for it, i did and they work just fine.
