I have the hotcam, lt4 valve springs, and 1.6rr with 29000 miles on my DD and the springs are becoming very weak on mine and will be replaced within the next few months. Personally I would never have put those springs in it as I feel they are somewhat of a weak link. I have valve float at high rpm's like others have stated, usually right around 6000rpm

Isky makes a real nice spring that I was going to use, it's the 235D, it needs to be used with their retainers and seats. Kind of starts to get expensive. Don't know if it works with SA rocker arms though. There have been some reports of broken dampers with the Alex springs....could be installer error like ****** noted.

My Alex parts springs have been good so far. I put them in last winter with a comp 502 and scorpion 1.6 rockers. I ran a full autocross season and did several driving schools as well as open track days, so they saw alot of sustained rpm use. And plenty of street miles as i drive to all events and enjoy the car. Although I never spin the car above 6k. Never have had float issues or anything. So far that is.

You are leaving a bit on the table by not shifting higher, even stock valvetrain lt1s perform best shifting at 62-6300

Yes I may be but the type of driving I do with the car it's not really necessary to extract every bit of rev's out of the car if that makes any sence. Drag racing is different. But with autocross I try to get into second as fast as I can and that's it I don't shift again. Here in the St. Louis region I haven't had a course yet that I needed 3rd. On a road course you need to place your shift's at a point to settle the car and get through the corner. Gateway's road course is a 3 and 4th gear course for my car. At the end of the back straight going into turn one is the point at which the car is at about 6k depending on how well I came out of the banked turn's and how late I'm able to brake. The only point I was trying to make is these springs have done well for me with what I have been doing with the car. I run the car pretty hard lap after lap on the big track so it'll pull in fourth from about 3500 all the way to 6k lap after lap. Comp's 502 cam is not a real agressive cam as far as ramp and lift, so it's fairly easy on springs. It's basically a hot cam with a little more on the exhaust side.

Here is a little video of me on the road course. Can't really hear the car because of the wind. Another thing I would like to add is just because the car will rev harder, doesn't mean it's making any more power. On the dyno the motor pulled hard to about 5900 then it started to flaten out so it's still making more power, but not at the same rate and you can see it on the graph and feel it in the car.
