Default Lighting Issues

Seeing if anyone else has had this problem -- figured it might be LT1 year specific so I'd post it here.

My blinkers hadn't been flashing -- I had to manually flash them with the switch. They wouldn't show up at all on the rear lights though whenever the running lights or headlights would be on. Also, only the third brake light would illuminate with the daytime or headlights on. They all work without any of the lights on. I put it in a new flasher switch and now the blinkers flash themselves, but they still don't show up when the taillights are on, and the brake lights still don't show aside from the third light when the headlights are on.

I can barely see a tiny amount of light coming from the rear blinkers now with the lights on though. The brake lights still don't work with the headlights on. Does anyone have any solutions or ideas? Am I just in for a wiring fiasco?

Have you checked all the bulbs?

Yes. They are all good. I've replaced them all like twice. All of the lights work when the headlights are off, but when the parking lights or headlights are on, neither of the main two brake lights work (just the third brake illuminates), and the rear blinkers don't show either. Could it be a brake sensor for the rear brakelights issue?

It could be a bad headlight switch, that's the next thing I would try replacing. I don't have the schematics for a 93, hopefully someone else can help you out there.

Gotcha... from what I've read, the headlights and rear brakes are wired together... I dont know. Just hoping someone has had this issue before.. Im not very fluent in wiring so hunting for the problem probably will just complicate the problem, lol.

I had a similar problem on my 94 Firebird V6, i replaced all the tail light and signal light sockets and all the problems went away. My guess you have a ground issue those sockest go bad eventually.

Check to see if the light sockest look burnt inside. Some of mine wasnt even burnt but still caused me problems.

What do you mean by daytime lights? Our cars only came with headlights (manually) and fog lights.

The parking lights. Like the orange markers and the tail lights.

I will check all of the sockets. I feel like it would be a ground problem though. Thanks for the help.
