If that guy suggested that 224/224 cam he doesnt know a thing about LT1s and I would grab your cores and split from him FAST. Thats TPI thinking, like lingenfelters 219/219 for the TPI motors. I know you said you are on a budget, give Lloyd Elliot a call and get his "budget" LE1 kit, I think its $1000 for the heads and cam fully assembled and ready to bolt on, and go with his emissions friendly 223/230, or 224/230, whatever he has now, and you should be around 350 rwhp. Also go with the 0.026 gaskets to bump compression.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

Is that Lloyd's cam? Or the cc503 comp grind?

Good luck getting it to pass emissions if its being ground by someone who's never ground an emissions friendly lt1 grind.

Thank you for your comment bufmatmuslepants. Caused me to do more research and found out that an 112LSA cam is pushing it to pass smog in CA. Confirmed that concern with my tuner and decided to go with the 224/230 .525/.525 114lsa cam.

Bought some 36# injectors yesterday.

Buyer beware story: Guy had some “brand new” 1.6 Crane Rockers posted on CL. Checked them out yesterday and he neglected to tell me that they “got a little wet in storage” and half of them had rust colored oil on the rocker and two had rust chucks on the edges of the rocker. I feel bad for the person who ends up buying them.

36 is too big, 30s will work perfect with your application.

I don't see you making enough power with that setup to warrant bigger injectors.

.525 is still pretty low on lift unless that is with 1.5 rockers.
114 LSA I would pretty much only use for turbo.
Yes it will let you use more NA duration before emissions becomes a concern but it also makes less power. 112 is already a really wide LSA the fast NA street/strip cars are mostly running 107-110, now granted that wont work sniffer test wise so I am not saying that is what you need, just trying to put 112-114 in perspective.

IMO you need to stop trying to make this cam work, stop the project till you get a clue, then let someone competent put together a package.
Anyone who spec'd you a single pattern like that probably wont get the events times right anyway, there is more to a cam than the duration/lift/LSA being discussed here.

Numbers look decent, about what a set of le1s flow. You should be somewhere around 360-365rwhp all said and done.

Default Passed the CA smog test today

My two years are up and had to bring the Z28 into a Star smog station. My first smog test since the top end build. I passed with the following (15 mph) numbers:

HC (PPM) Measured at 5 - Max allowed is 58
CO (%) Measured at .01 - Max allowed is .48
NO (PPM) Measured at 325 - Max allowed is 483

Thanks to Solomon at lt1pcmtuning.com for helping me dial in the tune.

Build sheet and dyno sheet are located here:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...o-results.html

What a relief it is to get that cloud of not knowing if I was going to pass or not lifted off of my shoulders.

Next step is to get her on a 1/8 or 1/4 mile track - I am 56 yrs. old and have never done that.

In the other thread guys were worried about that cam, 114LSA made that easy to pass as obvious by the wide margins it passed by.

Awesome that you passed emissions so easily and still put down 325 to the tires through Cali legal shorties and stock y and cat. With long tubes you might have hit 350. Keep us updated with track results!
