Help asap Hey guys I am having a little issue with the crank reluctor ring on a 97 trans am. The motor we are installing in the car was set up to be OBD-I and of course the 97 LT1 cars are OBD-2. So no big deal just convert the new engine over to OBD-2 but the issue I am now facing is the guy that was helping me lost the reluctor ring key for the OBD-2 crank. I have tried to order one from EFI connection but for some reason it took 10 days to ship and I am now out of time. I am moving 800 miles from Fort bragg NC to Fort drum NY and needed to drop this car off in VA to be put into storage. I literally move in 4 days and the key will not be here until the day before I move. If I align the reluctor ring up with the OBD-1 timing key (it does not have the extension for the ring) and make two small tac welds on each side would this be ok. I know some extreme LSX guys do this but I have never been forced to. I would not consider this unless I was out of every possible option. I have test fit the ring onto the new crank and it fits snug. The OBD-1 key does extend a hair past the crank timing sprocket so I am positive I can align the reluctor in the correct orientation
