1993 z 28 back fire and missing Ok i just put another motor in my camaro out of a 1994 formula it starts and idles fine but i believe it's missing i can't really hear it but when you give it gas the motor vibrates and vibrates till i get up there in the rpms 3000 or above when it's sitting there if i rev it up and let off it pops and backfires and random puffs of smoke come out. Any ideas please i need to get this going so i can get to work

torque your exhaust manifolds to spec, check gap in the plugs, look for exhaust leaks prior to heated O2's, check for leaks after the mass airflow sensor, check the silencer on the intake tube if that has fallen off or is not sealing propperly it will make the car run like that also and of course, as a last resort replace your optispark.
