Well yes, the lower trunnion area is the most highly stressed part of the rocker. You could get some other rocker studs with a different radius instead of modifying what are some of the nicest aluminum rockers out there.
Also aluminum shavings undoubtably got inside the needle bearings.
If you were going to put a 'small' radius on the inside corners of the rocker trunnions it should be as smooth as possible to avoid stress risers that will cause a crack.
You are free to do as you want with your parts, but I don't believe what you did to the rocker was the right way to fix your problem.
