Hokey, the problem with your situation is if it breaks and takes out more parts than he is willing to cover in his warranty.

yea i know, i am going to look into a new crank i guess, but that means i have to tear the motor back apart to do the swap, but i think i should be able to reuse my rods and everything they will just have to be clearenced for the new crank. will probably need new gaskets too. so much for getting it on the road by the end of the month....

Make him ******* do it, and you watch him to make sure he isn't using air tools on things that need to be torqued to spec.

i am trying to figure out what i want to do, the motor is still on the engine stand in my barn as i am waiting on parts to finish it up, i was thinking i could swap out to a forged crank now or see what happens with the scat that is in there.

he does have the 3 year warrenty that i would hope he honors (engine is 2 months old at most) if the crank were to break, since that wouldnt be my fault, just shitty build quality on his part but i am not sure i want to risk it at this point.
You have to keep in mind that i was not the original purchaser of the engine. Since you just bought it, i don't see why he would'nt take care of your problem if one was to arise. But, keep in mind that you should'nt for what you're paying for.

Also, this engine never seen boost, nitrous, ect. And from day one had proper break in, and a PCM for less tune from brian herter.... no excuses for what happend.

yea i understand all that and before i saw this thread i was just going to risk it and if it did break use the warrenty to have him fix it with proper parts, but it seemed like he wasnt going to help you out at all unless you paid for everything and that doesnt seem right, since like you said no excuses for the crank to break after 10k miles.i am just worried that he would blame it on meand not cover it since he did specify if something were to happen and it was user error or whatever he wouldnt cover it under warrenty.

i have talked to him after i received the motor about my worries with the crank and he assured me he has never had one break on him yet. that was a couple weeks ago. that worries me too, since i know that isnt true

I want to retract one of my statements. THIS ENGINE HAS A EAGLE CRANKSHAFT NOT THE SCAT! I spoke with Chad and he was aware of the Eagle crank breaking, he has had 15 or so through the years, and no longer uses that crankshaft. He has said that the scat has never had an issue and he puts out 250+ engines a year.

So, during our conversation he basically offered a discount on labor for the machine work necessary, and the parts at my expense. He has told me to shoot him over a email and see what we can work out. So, that's what i'm going to do. Hopefully we can make this come out as a good experience and I can share a great story with you all. Ill post some pics later. BTW, how do i even post pics on a foruM?

That still sucks. But it is good hell help you a little. To post pics click on the paper clip, browse, pick one, upload, X out of that window, click on your attached image and it pops up in a new window, copy the link, click the picture icon above your thread, paste, then your good.

Here are some pictures of the day. Not that great of photos, because my camera lens is missing, and it has dirt on the eye of the camera.
