LT1 Opti vent tube

LT1 Opti vent tube I have a 95 Z28, the engine is basically stock except for shorty headers and a BBK throttle body and aftermarket cold air kit. I bought the car with both already on it. Its a higher mileage car but I have done all the typical maintenance after buying a car. I have changed the oil, new plugs and wires the fuel pump and filter were recently changed and I have put new injectors and a fuel pressure regulator in it. The problem I am having with the car now is right on start up it backfires a few times till a give it gas and clear it out then it runs fine. I have been reading a million dif things like it's the OPTI or it could be the O2 sensors or the temperature sending unit on the front of the water pump. All these sound good but all are a little pricy just to through money at all of them. The main question I want to ask is the aftermarket cold air kit didnt have a pre drilled hole for the OPTI vent tube so the previous owner put it before the MAF sensor, I know it's suppose to go after the MAF. Could these be related or am I just hoping for an easy fix??

No, that is not going to cause your problems. I would invest in some way to scan your car and be able to look at live data. Get familiar with all the parameters, so you can properly diagnose your car.

You will need a 16 pin or OBD2 ALDL cord, and a program like Freescan installed on a laptop, to do what shbox is saying.

again make sure you get a 16 Pin cord
The 95' camaro is kinda different. It has an OBD2 style connector but its an OBD1 computer, so you have to get an obd2 cable and obd1 tuning software.

Thanks for the help, yea I knew the OBD2/1 dilemma these have. That will be my next step. Software would be nice cause it doesn't throw any codes. I knew I was reaching pretty far on the vent tube.

Just to mention my 95 Z28 has the 94 Z28 PCM. Idk if that changes things but I would love people's opinions on that as well. When I picked up the car from the previous owner he made it a selling point as the better PCM, is this case???
