Default 94 Z transmission...issues..

i just bought a 1994 Z28 and it seems to be pulling very strong but recently the tranny has been acting up. sometimes under normal driving i can tell that its not wanting to push on forward and almost feels as if its bogging down and other times its at mid to wide open throttle where it does the same bogging down feeling or it will straight up slip and im at redline with the car im trying to pass getting up my rear end. The guy i bought it from said it was a rebuilt racing tranny(it does chirp 2nd gear if i take off and get it up to 3k rpms and there really isnt much of a gap between shifts so i guess that part might be true). if I drive it smooth i can feel it shift into all 4 gears fine. 1-2 is the most jerky and putting it into drive sometimes it tries to jump forward and will chirp the tires even with the brake pressed all the way to the floor. if anyone can help me it would be very very much appreciated.

Thank You,

It sounds like it may have a shift kit in it. Other then that all I can do is relate personal experiences.
I have a crappy "Performance" transmission I was sold along with a long history of problems. Mine too shifting from park to drive or reverse to drive feels like a bomb went off and just sends a huge jolt down the drive line. I have had three from the same company through warranty rebuilds and all have done this after about 1k miles. The bogging I did have a problem with at one point but it was a rare failure. A cracked sunshell in the middle of the shell. It also caused what I can only describe as a missed gear. It would often miss the 1-2 shift and shift way to early from 2-3. I handed them that transmission back 5 times before it final broke the sunshell and they found the failure point.
You may hate to here this but your best bet is to find someone locally that people can recommend. Maybe hang out down at a local drag strip and talk to other F-body, B-body and Vette owners and see if any of them know of someone who can actually build one worth a crap and see if they can drive the car and give you a basic idea. They can check line pressure and temps to try and see if there a factor but usually the only way to know for sure is to tear it down and start over.
Good luck with it and maybe some of the trans guys on this site can give some more insight.
