Default Check engine light/missfire question

I have over the valve cover wires, and had number 8 come loose from where I had routed them behind the power steering pump and lay against the pulley, wearing a hole through and developing a miss. My question is there was never a check engine light. I drove it home about 25 miles with the miss. Is the LT1 OBD2 computer not set up to throw a code with a miss?

There are numerous conditions for setting the DTC, but it would be during the next ignition cycle that diagnostic runs and fails under the the same operating conditions.

What are you driving? There is no car info.

97 z28 m6 I started it several times after it started missing I was using my temp gun to shoot the headers to find the dead cylinder. The light never came on the wire was shorting against the pulley. It's just something I've been thinking about trying to satisfy my curiosity.

Normally, it is pretty sensitive. Can't say why you got no indication. If you have any custom programming, that might affect what happens.
