My race car ('96 TA) 4L60E made 285 rwhp with a B&B cat back, off road Y pipe and a little tuning. Never had a valve cover off. Before I screwed it all up. LOL
Lots of cam only cars been across my dyno over 300 rwhp.

Not disputing that.

But most (essentually) cam only LT1 cars with a 4L60E are gonna dyno a good bit less than 300 HP to the wheels.

And I'm saying that this car (as it stands) will be one of those cars.

I don't remember tuning a cam-only LT1 on my dyno under 300 rwhp.

Did you ever see any get close to 340? Not saying it's the norm (or that it couldn't have been a VERY friendly dyno), but I've read of a few people hitting 340hp on a 503.

That would be the high side for sure. They all gain about the same. Some were just turds from the factory. I have seen virgin LT1s only make 230 or so. One of those dogs wouldn't make 300 with a cam only.

That's a standard 330rwp build. But remember, the big thing with the 503 is the flat power band, you don't get spectacular HP but you do win races.

I'd agree with you it's a 330 hp build, if he had proper exhaust, a good mail order tune, and 1.6's. He needs to spend en afternoon swapping to longtubes and 1.6's, and then sending his PCM off to a good tuner.

Just some advice. If you have the money port the heads and put in larger valves. If not at least do a good 3 angle valve job.
