I hear ya Neil....it just takes money. Keep in mind that I have owned this car since 98....modding is a slow process when being a college student.

Makes sense, I think the average student takes 5 years so 7 working full time is about average. 5K for motor is actually really good, the one motor we built was for a friends Vette and starting from scratch including finding a new block that motor hit the 6k range really quick. That was a 385 with trick flow heads, hyd roller cam, still power left on the table if we had the heads reworked and ported. I think a litle bit of that 6K was tools and a new torque converter. Any case good luck with that motor should sound gawd aweful wicked and I'm happy its going in a 93, the best year LT1 in the history of man kind

Thanks Neil.....yeah, the car is a 93, but there really is nothing "93" on it anymore. It has all been converted over to 95 PCM/Opti stuff....so the speed density is gone. However, I may run this engine in open loop/speed density mode. Not sure on that yet. Someday I will get a FAST engine managment setup, but for now I am just going to tune it with LT1 Edit.

I figure that the $5k estimate is actually about $6k now that I add things up better. But not bad considering the engine has about $12k of parts/labor.

Yeah...being a college student sucks hardcore when it comes to the mod fund. I'm saving for a 383 rotating assembly, forged piston, new rings and seals, LT4 Hotcam, LT4 intake, 58mm throttle body and a complete true dual exhaust. I had like 4000 saved before this school year....but that all got spent this semester almost...and now I need some body work and paint and the list continues.....anyways anymore updates as of yet? I know you said a month but I wanna know now.....

An LT4 cam would be totally inadequete for a 383 in my opinion... if you wanna stay hydraulic go with at least an XE 224/230... I'd do an 847/306 though. Sounds good if you went with some ported AFR 210s.

Jordan57....yeah I do have an update. My old motor is out of the car and the new one will be going in probably in about a week. There are quite a few things that I need to do to the car to get it ready for the new engine (pull heater box out, tubular K-frame, cut cowl some, wiring, !ABS block, etc...)

Hoping for low 10s and 135+mph trap speeds on motor. The intake is drilled and tapped for a fogger, so I may hook up the hose too.
