Lt1 Hedman Longtubes Leak?
Lt1 Hedman Longtubes Leak? Bought some coated stepped hedman longtubes off a guy, had 50 miles on them. Can not get the passenger header to seal up. I have a leak on the center 2 ports at the gasket. Any tips to fix this? Was using ultra seal gaskets, tried some good left over perceys I had, and coated them in copper spray. Still leaks.
checked the gasket, its leaking top side of the 2 center ports. You can feel it too when its running. Im sure the flange could use resurfaced id guess, but 50 miles on them and already a issue wtf.
Do the headers have one long flange, or is the flange separated between the center ports and the end ports? If it's one long flange, you could cut the flange, so the center ports were independent of the end ports, and this might help you get them sealed. I had to do this on a couple of sets of headers I had back in the 70s....

has the long flange on passenger side. Drivers has one cut for the front tube by the steering shaft. Welds are fine, almost seems like the flange could be warped? Everytime its leaked on the top side of the ports facing the valve cover. Someone mentioned doubling up gaskets, how are people applying this copper silicone to help seal them? like a heavy coat or just smear alittle?
