Unless he plans on pushing out 450whp there is no need for a 4in catback

Depends on what you are willing to do. You can always hollow the cat out, or delete the cat itself, but then you may have trouble with emissions. I would just telll you to save up some cash for a decent system (Borla, GMMG, Magnaflow etc.). Sparkplugs are a nightmare to change on an LT1 with the stock headers, but with only 47k miles, you can wait awhile. when the time comes, think about investing in some longtube headers. adds a little power and makes changing plugs much less of a chore.

Is there an emissions y-pipe available for LT headers for a single cat 1995 LT1?

Otherwise I plan on doing Hooker or BBK ceramic coated shorties with a Magnaflow catted Y-Pipe.

I'm hearing a bang/clang noise from the DS rear when I drive, usually over bumps but sometimes not. I thought I checked the rear roll bar and everything seemed tight. For now I'll assume it is the rusty 1995 exhaust system.

My mechanic was just under there last week and he's really good about letting me know the real deal...of course, he should...I live 2 doors down from him. He didn't mention anything, but I need to toss the rear brakes anyway...cheap PRC rotors...

no, you'll have to move the cat over.
