Default LTCC conversion worth it?

Obviously it works pretty damn well but is it worth the price? It's $399 for the box and harness and another $750 for 8 coil packs! I'd love to do this but that's over $1200 for the conversion.

Agreed with the above. Doesn't it still rely on the opti for cam position?

From what I hear it extends the opti's lifespan by a HUGE margin thanks to the extra coils.

And Caprice, I've had my fair share of bad optis since mine isn't vented. The 95 z28 I used to own had a vented one and I never had an issue with it. That may be why yours is fine.

From my experience, no it's not worth the price.
Mine is not a high mileage car, but has seen 7000+ rpm more than most ever will. Zero failures. All stock ignition except for the plugs, Magnecor wires and loctited rotor screws.

I put a new GM opti on my car 5 years ago for ***** and giggles and it hasn't missed a lick, the factory one was fine. 30K miles, 100+ track passes, driving in rain, etc etc all on a stock non-vented Opti. I don't understand the hate, I believe it's just user error.

The MSD cap and rotor kit adds a vent for under $150...............

I've had a few people tell me it's not worth the money but the ones who've told me that already have a vented opti. Mine does not so it goes bad much sooner. I'm probably going to go the MSD cap and rotor route for now and possibly the conversion later if the MSD doesn't work as well. Has anyone here made the conversion with a non vented opti?

When I had my '94 Formula, it was the best single upgrade I did to the car. Definitely worth the money to me-back then.

Today, I'd go straight to the EFI connections 24x conversion.

The EFI 24x setup has made the LTCC setup obsolete.

It is a much more advanced package, with a lot more benefits then just ditching the opti - which isn't very problematic in its own right when using quality units and doing a proper installation.

Depends on if you source it all through EFIconnection or just buy whats needed from them and pin your stock harness.

If you can source coil packs, PCM, and a crank/cam sensor all you need is the reluctor and cam piece from EFI. Then of course you need to repin your harness.

I would say mine was under the cost of an LTCC but I got a PCM and coils for dirt cheap.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the LTCC use standard LS-Series ignition coils? Our most expensive pair of coil bracket assemblies (coils, brackets, hardware, and pair of coil harnesses) is a few hundred dollars less.

As of now, the three main sets that work are the LS2/LS7, LM7, and LS1. Some other may work, but those are the most common, and the ones we have confirmed are compatible.

I do not know where you are paying almost $800 for coils. Even coils alone without our brackets go for $250, $500 less than where you looked. Ours are alo 100% brand new.

The LTCC system is supplied with coil plugs for LS1 & LS6 ignition coils. All other LS ignition coils have different keyed and pinned plugs.

So don't just buy coils-make sure they fit your LTCC-or EFI Connection kit if you wisely decide to go that way.

The kit no longer comes with the coil connectors. It comes with the sub harness connector for the LS series coil harnesses. It connects to the male connector seen below on our coil kit.

I am looking into stocking the parts from eficonnection. Just have many, many other irons in the fire. We also do not get many inquiries for the relutor kit, most of our harness and parts customers purchase it separately.

I would expededite getting them in if I knew they would sell.
