Default LT1 1978 camaro Swap

Question?

I have a 1994 formula a4. going to junk the formula, I bought a 78' Camaro going to swap the lt1 into it. my question is the fuel tank. Do I have to purchase a efi tank which I CAN'T find that will fit without modding. or can I use the stock tank?

I did this swap in my 78 camaro and I used the stock tank with a msd online pump on the frame rail where the filter was factory and then I used the factory evap line as a return but you have to take the sending unit out and remove the orifice Inside the sender

no problem I used the msd inline pump but you can get the summit inline cheaper and it looks almost identical to the msd and we have used several of the summit ones with no problem here's a link http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3138/overview/

You have two main choices outside of spending some big bucks to buy a drop in EFI tank.

Inline fuel pump or modify the factory tank for an LT1 sending unit.

Plenty of write ups out there for modifying the factory tank for the LT1 unit, just need either the time and know how with a welder or a friend with such skills. The inline is the easier route but definitely not without its short comings.
