Default New harmonic balancer?

My balancer has some rubber bulging in a couple of areas. Is it time to change it or can I still run it for a while? If I need to replace, how do I align the new one? I marked the old one with a paint marker so I could reinstall in the same place.

Yes, you need to replace it before it comes apart and bangs around in you engine bay then flies off down the road...there's an arrow on the stock balancer, you just line that up with the triangular hump thing on the stock hub, it's foolproof. Consider an aftermarket one if you ever plan on putting a big cam and heads on it for 6500+rpm use.

As I am on a limited budget and have had so much cost already, is there a recommendation for a good lower cost harmonic without having to pull the hub? I see Dorman and ATP have stock replacements. Anyone have experience with these brands?

you can just buy the balancer part and bolt it to your hub. Doorman would be your basic replacement balancer sold at most auto part stores

There are 3 "stock" replacement units that I can get locally. Pioneer, Dorman and Powerbond. Any one better than the other?

I'd go with the Powerbond.

Agreed, they also make high quality aftermarket SFI certified ones like the one JEGS sells under their name. I have one on my car.
