keyed crank non keyed hub HELP!

keyed crank non keyed hub HELP! im building an lt1 for my project and have ran into a problem with it, i bought a new crank from a local machine shop and they gave me the same crank i had before, but this crank i have now has a key sticking out of it and my old hub DOES NOT have the slot for that key to lock into,
so my question is what can i do? and if i were to remove the keys from the crank snout and slide my crank hub on would it damage the engine? what i mean by that is would it throw the balance off and ruin the bearings?

stock LT1 just has the hub pressed on. yes there is a keyway on the crank. Aftermarket hubs like ATI, etc. have keyed hubs
you can have a machine shop cut a key into your hub. $50. Or just buy one. IIRC Golen Engines sells them
I run a ATI so it came keyed.
