Default keyed crank non keyed hub HELP!

im building an lt1 for my project and have ran into a problem with it, i bought a new crank from a local machine shop and they gave me the same crank i had before, but this crank i have now has a key sticking out of it and my old hub DOES NOT have the slot for that key to lock into,

so my question is what can i do? and if i were to remove the keys from the crank snout and slide my crank hub on would it damage the engine? what i mean by that is would it throw the balance off and ruin the bearings?

Default re

also has anyone ever had their crank hub machined for the key on the snout?
if so how much did it cost and did it hold up well?

SS

stock LT1 just has the hub pressed on. yes there is a keyway on the crank. Aftermarket hubs like ATI, etc. have keyed hubs

you can have a machine shop cut a key into your hub. $50. Or just buy one. IIRC Golen Engines sells them

I run a ATI so it came keyed.
