Default WS6 hood mod.

I was waxing the car last weekend and removed the vents on the hood. I noticed the pieces behind the vent that obviously stops the water if it's raining. Would it be a bad idea to remove this piece? The car doesn't see rain. It seems that the air would flow into the motor better without that piece there. Just trying for a cheap mod.

i removed them on my z28 and had no problems. Even in the rain. Plus it kept the temp needle lower. However the lt1 ws6 kinda has the nostril a bit closer to the opti, but i still dont see how it would harm anything. Just be careful when washing the car.

I cut those baffles out before I had the hood installed. If you decide to cut them out I'd recommend removing the hood if possible. When I did mine it made a huge dusty mess and couldn't imagine all that going in the engine bay. Don't forget to wear protective breathing mask as the fine fiberglass dust is nasty.

I can't prove it helped but it would seem to allow more airflow. I don't drive in the rain and am careful when washing the car.

I pulled the plastic black covers off the fake scoops on my z28 and cut holes behind them but left the clip holes, when I go to the track I just take the plastic covers off and it allows the heat to escape in the staging lanes and cool air to rush in as I go down the track. When it's hot I can see the heat rising out of the holes.

I took them out today. It was a lot harder than I thought. I had to drill out the rivets, then use my tin snips to cut it to brake it enough since it was glued on both sides. I know it won't make enough difference to tell, just wanted to do something. I will fab up a piece to put behind the grille if I ever drive far distance with a chance of rain.
