Default LT1, needing some advice/help on where to go with it

New guy here.....

Just bout a '95 Formula Firebird w/ 108K miles that's been sitting up for a while b/c of a blown head gasket....

I bought it for mainly a back and forth to work ride, something to play with on the side you know? Looking to do a lil here and there, just doing add ons when I can. Being the first thing to do is the head gaskets, I thought about doing a cam swap while I was in it that far. Exhaust will be done to an extent with this.

Question being.....What size cam would be good to build from? Mainly gonna be a street/play car, local track is 1/8th mile......Comp Cam 07-465-8 is catching my eye at the moment. Good choice? Recommendations?

Also, what else would you guys recommend doing along the way to build this thing up a bit?

Thanks

If you are going to have the heads off call LE and put the LE2 top end in it.

If a cam replacement is what u want then replace the cam and that Comp cam is nice. But my experience is R&R the heads by themselves is much easier than a cam swap (or both). Yes when it comes time for the cam swap the intake will have to come off again. But as u posted "its been sitting for a while" u may have other problems to solve. Save your $$ and time. Just get the car running well before any power mods. But do put better vlv springs on the heads while u have them off. Search this forum for better vlv springs.
