Balancer problem

Default Balancer problem

Cars together (finally) and running great.
(Eagle 383 fully built and tuned) 24X conversion
anyway, 2 times now the damn crank pully bolt has backed out and the harmonic balacer has fallen out/off...

Please advise...

Loctite, before you dork up the threads in the crank.

I did the locktight and 100lbs of tq... That didnt work

the balancer was wobbling a little when i started it the seccond time...

If the balancer is wobbling, something is not together right, the balancer is bad or possibly a busted crank.

OP

you say "balancer fell off"...when you install it do you have to use a "pull tool" or does it just "slide" on the crank?

you should not have to use loc-tite...something is wrong if bolt keeps coming out and damper/hub come off.

Is this a manual trans car? I worked on an old school SBC that had the same problem, it ended up being a bent input shaft on the trans, he couldn't keep a balancer on it for more than a few minutes.

Could be that the nose of the crank is either worn down, due to the hub continually falling off, or machined undersize by mistake.
